All-On-4 Dental Implants: What to Expect
All-on-four dental implants give you a way to replace the full arch of teeth with a solution that looks, feels, and functions just like your natural teeth. That said, you should know what getting these implants entails.

If you’ve lost the full arch of your teeth, you might assume that dentures are your only option to restore your smile. Actually, though, an alternative can give you a sturdier, easier to manage way to feel your best while talking and eating normally.

With All-on-4® dental implants, you get a lasting way to root a full arch of replacement teeth firmly in your mouth.

We offer this dental implant option at our office in Glendale, California. Our LA Dentists Group team of All-on-4 specialists gives you a way to replace all of the teeth missing in your top arch, bottom arch, or both. Once placed, the All-on-4 implant feels, functions, and looks just like your natural teeth.

If that sounds appealing, talk with our team. We can give you an idea of what to expect with this option for replacement teeth.

Getting All-on-4 implants

When you lose a tooth, you have options to replace it. You can choose dentures, which you pop into and out of your mouth. Or you can choose a bridge, which means the replacement tooth gets anchored to neighboring teeth.

But if you don’t want to deal with the fiddliness of dentures and you don’t have abutting teeth you can use to fix your replacement teeth in place, you’ll be glad to know you have another option.

All-on-4 implants function like dental implants. With this form of replacement tooth, the new tooth gets anchored into your jawbone using a metal post. This way, the tooth is rooted so it feels and functions like a natural tooth.

But if you need a full arch of teeth, that doesn’t mean you need 16 posts — one for each tooth. With All-on-4 implants, we can anchor a full arch with four evenly spaced posts.

The implantation procedure

To ensure your jawbone is strong enough to anchor your new teeth, our team might recommend bone grafting

Once your jaw is ready, we implant the four posts to serve as the foundation for your replacement arch of teeth. Fortunately for you, All-on-4 implants also get called “teeth in a day” because we can mount your new arch of teeth to those posts in the same procedure.

Long-term outlook

With proper oral hygiene, your All-on-4 implants should last your lifetime. To maintain that arch of teeth, it’s important to visit our team twice a year so we can evaluate your gum health, clean your replacement teeth, and check the posts rooting the arch in your mouth.

With regular dental checkups and good at-home oral care practices, you should be able to enjoy your new arch of teeth for indefinitely.
